Note:

"Jaatichi Karavi Maati" is the first Marathi Abhang penned & published by Ronak Sawant on his website on the sacred day of Ashadhi/Devshayani Ekadashi and on the auspicious occasion of Pandharpur Ashadhi Wari Divya Sohala (spiritual pilgrimage and divine ceremony).

Abhang is a traditional form of devotional poetry composed in the Marathi language in praise of the Supreme Lord Shree Krishna (lovingly called 'Vitthal' in Maharashtra). Abhang originates from the God-realised venerated saints such as Santshresth Dnyaneshwar Mauli, Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj, Sant Muktabai, Sant Sopandeo Maharaj, Sant Namdev Maharaj, Sant Janabai, Sant Eknath Maharaj, Sant Tukaram Maharaj, etc., of the Bhakti movement or the Warkari Sampraday in Maharashtra.

The word abhang (meaning "unbroken" or "unending") is derived from Marathi, where 'a' means "non-" or "not" and 'bhang' means "ending", "break" or "interrupting". Abhang symbolises an unbroken, flawless stream of devotion in the form of an everlasting poem. These divine compositions emphasise continuous, uninterrupted devotion, spiritual surrender, and unwavering love to God.

Abhangs are not only devotional but also inspirational. They guide people to imbue moral conduct, pure character, a virtuous life, live in harmony with every living being and nature, etc.

Abhangs are so powerful and transcendental that they can transform an immoral sinner into a noble human or even into a reverential saint.
