As the year comes closer to an end, I like to reflect back on all the things that I have been through the entire passing year that made me the person I am today and played the biggest part in the growth of my life in any way possible. Normally, these are the things that I jot down writing the important highlights of my year as a yearly journey in the form of a blog note so that I can look back at my adventure of a year to see what I have accomplished, learned, where I travelled and other important days (moments) to remember.

So if you are reading this, I’d like to welcome you to my year’s journey, “Journey 2015”.

Cover Photo: Journey 2015 - Ronak Sawant

Firstly, I am happy to say that this year was a marvellous year for me. The Journey 2015, i.e. the year 2015 was a mixture of everything for me. From dancing, photography, writing, studies, good and bad times, I had it all! Well, that’s what the journey is all about, and this is what makes the journey fascinating. I mean you cannot expect to live the same moment every day and love life, how boring that life could be! As I say, it’s all about the journey! The journey of everything that happens in between. The journey of living which counts the most.

I learned so much about life, myself, family, friends, etc. that this life seems to be great learning. I started to feel the whole different meaning of love, appreciation, and happiness. And I started to connect to my soul and myself.

I have been blessed with some incredible and beautiful highlights of the Journey 2015. I will cherish them for a lifetime. Writing these highlights, I am feeling so proud of myself!

So, here are the highlights of my Journey 2015 in no particular order:

  • GANPATIPULE | Travel Diary:

Cover Photo: Ganpatipule - Travel Diary

A small visit to Ganpatipule turned out to be a good two days exploration trip with my companion - Camera (Canon 600D). A good stay at Fern Courtyard Resort. I had fun exploring Jaigad fort, Ganpatipule, Ratnagiri Fish Museum and side point. I travelled almost half the Konkan Region, and the whole Ratnagiri District I guess.

  • PERFORMANCE at NAGPUR - Vasantrao Deshpande Hall:

Cover Photo: Performance at Nagpur

The three days dance tour trip to Nagpur was amazing. The fun in the Duronto Express (a train which boarded us to Nagpur) and the stay at the Eastern Sports Club was a good time. And, the lovely Performance at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall. These are the memories that I will cherish lifelong.

Cover Photo: The Step Up by Johnnie Walker

I did my first ever Professional Photography work, “The Step Up by Johnnie Walker”. It is India’s First Digital Mentorship Programme in which I was the only Photographer and a younger person among all the artists, cast and crew. I covered all the episodes, in general, the entire show that included Fashion, Food & Music. Thanks to Globosport for giving me this opportunity. This was indeed a big thing for me as a Photographer because I always wanted to try something apart from Street Photography (the style I love to do). So, it’s a dream come true.

  • PERFORMANCE at CHANDIGARH - Chitkara International School (2 long Performances back-to-back):

Cover Photo: Performance at Chandigarh - Chitkara International School

Staying for two days at Hotel SKY in Chandigarh, my excitement to perform here was already on Sky. I was all set to kill it on stage. So the back-to-back 2 Performances at Chitkara International School was fly.

  • PERFORMANCE at AMRITSAR - Punjab Naatshaala (4 long Shows back-to-back):

Cover Photo: Performance at Amritsar - Punjab Naatshaala

The next stop from Chandigarh for almost four days was Amritsar. The stay here in Amritsar was fully protected and secured as we lived in an Army Compound. Seeing so close the life of an army/soldiers and the stuff they use, made this stay an extra special. Also, exploring the beautiful places of Amritsar made this dance tour, unforgettable.

Cover Photo: Visit to the Golden Temple

Visited the beautiful Golden Temple with my buggers (friends) three times both in day and night. In a day the temple was full of people, but in a night every corner of the temple was visible. The place looked a beautiful sight. Sitting by the water with friends and watching the temple by staying late at night. Oh! How amazing it was! The feeling of calm and everything in between is the feeling that I can’t even express it in words. I had a great time of my life.

We also visited Jallianwala Bagh. Then the visit to India-Pakistan Wagah Border on Sunday evening. What an experience it was! The Sunday is the only day when the border door gets open, and people from both the countries gather and share the love. I was one lucky bugger to see this happening live in front of my eyes. The security was so tight. Unfortunately, the camera wasn’t allowed. It was so good to see the love between the borderline. On one side, Indians; on the other, Pakistanis. It is a military display unlike any other in the world. Witnessing the soldiers, I got some positive energy in me, and I was all set for my Performance the next day.

Cover Photo: Performance at Punjab Naatshala

Performance Day, time to do what I was here for! I had four back-to-back long Performances in a day at Punjab Naatshala. The energy was all high, and I killed it every time I stepped on stage. All in, this dance trip was truly a blessing!

Cover Photo: Delhi - Travel Diary

This was part of the Punjab dance trip. From here we headed further to Chandigarh and Amritsar. A few hours spent here outside the Hazrat Nizamuddin station and at the market site was a good time.

My childhood wish came true travelling in Rajdhani Express, during the Punjab tour. Dang, the fun I had on this train with my team and the music jam we had, I couldn’t have asked for more! God is great!
  • The writing hobby started turning into a passion. I began writing poems too.
  • I wrote my first ever poem titled “Yeh Zindagi” (in English “This Life”) on June 28, 2015. This poetry is very special and close to me. I love to call it as a soul poem because the poetry defines the word 'life' and what it is exactly.
  • I wrote and published 4 poems in Hindi and English language.
  • I published 12 writings on my blog including this one and the 4 poems.

  • GOA | Travel Diary:

Cover Photo: Goa - Travel Diary

The last-minute three days trip to Goa with cousins and relatives was another fun travel to cherish. I explored so many places, forts, beaches, temples and churches.

Forts: Aguada Fort, Chapora Fort
Beaches: Anjuna, Calangute, Dona Paula, and Vagator Beach
Temples: Mangeshkar Temple, Shantadurga Temple
Church: Old Goa Church, Famous Museum of Christian Art
  • Lost my mobile while travelling to Goa. The mobile that was there with me for almost 5 years, it was no longer. This was a sad moment because it was like a best friend to me!
  • The second half of 2015 was a busy year with my TY BSc I.T. studies. Because of this, I missed some performances and travels. I felt sad about this, but that’s life.
  • Got the All-Round Student Award on Achiever's Day in College!

Cover Photo: All-Round Student Award - Achiever's Day College

  • And many more things that happened on this Journey 2015. I am glad and love this life.
Thank you to all the people who were a part of this year’s journey. And to all those who are loving, and supporting from the start, you hold a special place in my heart. It’s not that you think of me, but I think of you as well. And I keep on expressing this love through my art.

The year 2016 is right around the corner. I am more excited, and I have been waiting for this year for so long, especially because this is my birth-date year. I have this deep feeling inside me that 2016 will be my year. I don’t know, but whenever I get this gut feeling in me, it always happens. Let’s see!

Right now, I want to live last few hours (moments) of Journey 2015 before the calendar changes.

And, here’s to the “Journey 2016” with many more highlights to come and hoping 2016 will be far more better than 2015. Cheers!

P.S. Happy New Year 2016! Here's wishing everyone love, happiness and peace.

Cover Photo: What a beautiful morning! - Ronak Sawant

As usual, started my day thanking God for this beautiful life! Got ready, took my bag and stepped out of my home for a college lecture. This 15 minutes journey to college started with a positive thought, “Today is going to be a good day”. Enjoying the early morning walk with a packet of Marie Gold biscuit in my hand, loving the morning refreshing air with every step I take, and biscuit I chew. Watching the sun shining bright, listening to the birds singing in their rhythm, looking at traffic signal lights and looking at people's eyes who were passing by from my side, trying to find what they are up to and trying to read their mind. Yes, I was in a trance.

With every step I take and the biscuit I eat, there was something beautiful happening and passing. I realised that this day is not as usual. I saw three strangers enjoying the early morning newspaper at a Chai Tapri (a tea-stall) and having fun. The city cleaners were doing their job right by cleaning the city and making it beautiful. The two young boys may be more than 20 years of age holding their fingers and walking by the road! Some people were already at the start of their day job while some were on their way.

My 15 minutes journey to college was about to end. I kept the remaining biscuits in my bag, took out an ID card, and kept it in my pocket. Then from a distance, I saw two homeless kids, a boy and a girl holding each other’s hand running by the footpath and enjoying the beautiful morning. Just when I reached the college lane, I saw a friend from a distance coming through me being busy on a cell phone. He was walking back home. He also saw me and just when I reached him, he started saying, “I was trying to call you to inform you that the lecture is cancelled and there will be no lecture today”. Listening to this, I slowly whispered, Oh Fu*k! But at the same time, I was happy about it. But, my friend wasn’t happy. He was like, “the teacher should inform us a day before about this”. I responded, “Hey chill, it is okay! Bas samajle ke early morning walk ho gayi,” (Think that you did the early morning walk, that’s all!).

Another friend came. Standing on a roadside, we spoke for almost an hour. We chatted about life, the final semester B.Sc. IT project and much such stuff! I was happy that the lecture got cancelled. Because of it, we were talking like aliens on a roadside. While chatting, I witnessed a beautiful moment happening on my right side. The man was giving bread to the stray dog as if the dog is his son. I smiled looking at this moment. I felt the love around me.

After standing and talking for almost 1 hour, we left doing the handshake and saying bye to each other; taking three different directions as 3 of us had a different road to take. I started my journey again but this time back home. The streets started filling up with vehicles and people. Then after walking some steps, I see a woman on a bus stop waiting for a bus, and there was a stray dog right beside her. When I reached closer to her, I observed she was moving her right hand with care on a dog’s back, like as if the dog is her baby. The love was all around me this morning. Next, I see a crow drinking the water from a bowl filled with water placed outside the window on the first floor of a building. It was kept especially for all these beautiful birds. My heart filled with love watching this! Mix emotions started running inside me.

The last thing which I viewed is another extraordinary moment. I had tears in my eyes this time. I see my dad walking on his way to the office. The fact that my eyes got filled with beautiful water because it is his hard work that inspires me every day! Sometimes I wish I could be as hard-working as him. I said to myself, “this is the kind of father I hope to be someday”. The hard work dad does for the entire family is more than just an inspiration. I reached him, had a small chat, and then left saying bye. I somehow managed my best to control my eyes filled with water. But I think dad read my eyes.

Today, for the first time in life I realised this seriously that time once gone can never come back. I wish I had carried a camera along with me so that I could have captured all these beautiful morning moments and shared with you all. But never mind, I have shared this all writing a complete blog on it. I believe that the best photographs/moments you carry are in your eyes. This all just made my day and filled my morning with full of love.

Life is all about the priceless moments and little things. That's what makes me happy. We become so busy in life sometimes that we forget to see all these small little beautiful things happening around. So, I request you to stop for a while and have a look around yourself, see what beautiful is passing by and grab hold of all the things that you are losing by running this never-ending rat race; for once gone it shall never come back. You may earn a million someday and live in a fancy house, ride in a posh car, but how about a walk with that special someone holding an ice-cream in hand and all the crazy-silly talks. If this isn't the life, I don't know what is then!

Truly! What a beautiful morning! What a journey it was and what a day!

(Dil Jo Keh Raha Hai Suno) - A Poem by Ronak Sawant

"Dil Jo Keh Raha Hai Suno"

Kehta hai dil sunle zara,
Apne aap ko pehchaan aur kar apna jahan hara-bhara.
Sunli tune woh aawaz, yahin toh hai tera humsafar.
Bheed mein kahan kho gaya hai tu,
Kab tak khaamosh baithoge yun.

Sapne tere woh saare,
Kyun chupa raha hai uss andhere.
Chal uth-ja yeh hi hai tera mauka,
Kyunki har ek pal hai yahan pe anokha.
Kal kya hoga kise hai pata,
Jeele puri tarah se yeh aaj, yahin toh hai zindagi ka naata.

Khoobsurat lagne lagega yeh jahan,
Agar tum sunoge jo dil ne kahan.
Toh, wahi karo jo dil kare,
Wahi suno jo dil kahe.
Jo banna chahte ho wahi bano,
Aur, dil jo keh raha hai usse suno!

Cover Photo: A Beautiful World - A Poem by Ronak Sawant

This world is beautiful,
Everything has its beauty and soul.
Everything is possible at this place,
Because everything happens, by God’s grace.
From the sunrise in the morning to the night’s moon shining,
There’s always something magical happening.

This world is ours,
Let us not make it pieces of broken jars.
Live and let live, should be the motto of life,
What we truly want for that we must thrive!
Every day is a new start here,
There’s a victory beyond fear.

This world is great,
For all the things we want, we should have faith!
Our time in this world is limited,
So, until the time we exist let’s make it fun, worth and excited.
Inspiration is everywhere,
And, love is in the air.

Can you find such a marvellous place elsewhere?
Truly! It's a beautiful world, I swear!

Cover Photo: BIRTHDAY | (I’m turning 21 tomorrow) - Ronak Sawant

Time flies so quickly when you are having fun, living and enjoying life. I can’t believe I would be turning 21 tomorrow. Yes, it’s my 21st birthday in some hours! Though I firmly believe that age is just a number, the fact I think that cannot be forgotten here is we are growing a year older every time our birthday comes. The question that arises here is not what we should plan for our birthday, with whom we must celebrate or what age we will become. But the question here is, “are we doing something that will add up in life and make that year count since our last birthday”. So that we can celebrate this special day called birthday at fullest, feeling we did something good for that last one year.

Honestly talking, people don’t understand the real meaning of a birthday, why they are alive and why they exist in this world. For them, the birthday means celebrating that one day in a year which comes every year. But, not to me! For me, the word birthday has a whole different meaning. It means the year’s day for me.

Because it is the day that defines the whole year since last birthday celebration,
It is the day that describes our birth,
It is the day that represents our life,
And, it is the day that determines our birthday and is the reason for the celebration.

Well, let me make the meaning of a birthday clearer. Yes, the birthday is all about celebrations, and it should be that only. But the definition of it lies in the point “celebrations, for what?” That one day in a year which comes every single year or for a one day or age more in life? The birthday celebration isn’t about all this! Instead, the party should be for a year’s day, as it should reflect the reason behind celebrating the whole year of this special day called birthday.

You know, the day of our birth comes every year without fail. But it takes a lot to celebrate the year’s day called birthday.

I will be celebrating the 21st birthday of mine tomorrow. By saying this, I feel so proud of myself because I have not only done just one thing that has added up to my life since the last birthday, but I have done so many things. Not to mention that they were hard. But, patience, hard work, and self-belief have what made me achieve the things I wanted to do and what I truly love.

I believe that we all have a path set out before us and I can’t wait to find out and explore what mine is in this 21st year of mine. Also, I can’t believe that I have been alive for almost two decades now. That is crazy, I know! By saying this, I feel so lucky to live the life that I am living. I am grateful to God for everything. A lot of people don’t have an as great family as I have, as close few friends as I have or perhaps every little thing that I have in my life. I feel blessed and thankful, that’s all I can say!

On this 21st birthday of mine, I’m excited to witness what will happen next in my life, and I’m so ready to live for whatever life is going to throw at me next, either good or bad. I’m all ready to start and enter into my 21st year of life. It is the start of a whole new part of my life, and I’m going to make it as amazing as I can.

The last 20 years of my life have been outstanding, and it was one hell of a crazy ride that I will never forget and cherish lifelong. So bring on the next 20, and I’ll make them better and worth.

P.S. - Happy 21st birthday to me in advance! Just a few more hours to go for the celebrations to begin! Thanks for reading! I know this blog post is little long to read, but it is worth the read to understand the real meaning of birthday. Thanks again! God bless!

Cover Photo: Manzil Ki Khoj Mein - A Poem by Ronak Sawant

"Manzil Ki Khoj Mein"

Manzil ki khoj mein,
Chal pada hoon main.
Musafir hoon yaaron gir jaunga,
Lekin uthkar fir se muskurake chalne lagunga.

Yeh manzil hai meri,
Hai meri yeh khudki.
Zidd nahi chodhunga,
Haar nahi maanunga.

Bhale kitni mushkil aa jaye,
Musafir hoon yaaron shayad bhatak jaunga,
Lekin yunhi bhatakte-bhatakte apne manzil tak zaroor pahunch jaunga.

Jo karna hai mujhe, wahi karunga.
Jo pana hai usse main haasil karunga.
Manzil milegi mujhe pura yakeen hai,
Shayad mere khwabon mein kuch azeen hai.

Hausle hai mere bade,
Manzil hai meri anokhi.
Usse paane ki chaha mein,
Nikal pada hoon main, manzil ki khoj mein!

Cover Photo: Happy World Photography Day! | (Just for the love of photography) - Ronak Sawant

I don't celebrate any day in particular, to celebrate something specific in life. Be it my birthday or any other day of my life. For me, every day of my life is a holiday! A holiday where I can do anything I want and celebrate this priceless gift called life.

Honestly talking, I did not even remember its 'World Photography Day' today. You know, I am here walking the streets all alone. No! Right now, I don't have a camera in my hand or along with me. Nor do I have earphones plugged in my ear with my favourite music playing. But it's just me, busy looking at the world in my way.

My head filled with thoughts,
My face filled with a lovely smile,
My heart full of happiness and peace inside my soul,
And, my eyes filled with an inspiration having a look around myself and the time passing by.
Well, this is how I feel when I am into my crazy world, my zone and in a trance!

But, being a Photographer for more than ten months now and the love & passion I have for this beautiful art form called photography; this is the day we the 'Photographers' should celebrate wholeheartedly. Not just being in behind the camera and capturing the beauty around us, but also living the moment being in the frame too.

I celebrate photography with every photograph, moment and breath I take.
I am photography, and I am the living photograph!
Happy World Photography Day!

Cover Photo: A Free Bird - Ronak Sawant

A few days before I realised that my life is nothing but a holiday.
A holiday where I can do anything I want,
A holiday where I can be anywhere in any place,
A holiday where I can be me,
A holiday where I can be free.
Yes, free like a bird! Doing what my heart wants to and what I want from this life.

Being a free bird doesn’t mean that you have a lot of free time, no work or no worries in life. It signifies that you are doing what you love and what you want in life. In general, living a life on your terms.

I have been living this life as a free bird since my childhood days. I still remember how crazy and foolish I was as a child. I was the only child in the school that never went to any tuitions or classes. From 5th grade till now (my TY BSc I.T., last year of college) all that I’ve learned is in school lectures and all on my own. The reason for this is I didn’t like going to tuitions. Tuition teaches the same studies as taught in school. Above all, why do something with the help of others, when you can do it by yourself! Well, this was me! A self-taught, self-made! A free child! Yes, free like a bird!

As a child, I have done every little thing a child should do to make his childhood life count and make it memorable. I mean not like a typical child with a daily routine. Starting from school, then back home, lunch, tuition, home again, dinner and sleep. In my case I was different. Different as in, I was free. Yes, free like a bird!

From flying kites to running behind it,
From playing football, cricket, chess, snake & ladder to playing with marbles, top, etc.
From studying to dancing, singing out loud, etc.
From eating mom’s made delicious food to climbing the tree and plucking raw mangoes with friends!
Well, this was me as a child!

And, from living life with freedom to living life at fullest. That's who I am as a person! But now, the world I see through my eyes and the world I live in, the people in it, the so-called human beings! Oh, wait! Are they even humans now? Damn!

What has happened to the world? Where is this world running? Behind the race or trying to get along with this so-called race or trying to move forward! Mind you this rat race will never end, even though the people in it expire. We are all born, and we are going to die. Don’t you want to leave happy? Feeling, you did something that you loved, lived life as a free bird instead of being trapped in a cage. Don’t you think that we are making a fool of ourselves living the life in a box or cage?

To be tactful, why this goddamn world is so much on their phones and so much busy with their lives these days. I am thankful to God that in my childhood, instead of playing football on PlayStation, Xbox, computer or smartphone I played it with my friends kicking the ball on a ground having real fun and memory to cherish. The world is so much engrossed in their smartphones and so much busy with their own life that they don’t even have the time to look around themselves and see what beautiful happening & passing by at every moment.

They are living the blinded life with the eyes open and an unfree life with the mind and heart open, but being trapped in a cage. A cage that might get free someday or it may not! All the life we wait for this cage to get open. But does it get open? No! And when it gets, the time has already won the battle. So, why to wait for the cage to get open? The changes about what you want in life start from no one but you. So don’t think about anything, open the cage and then see how beautiful and free your life will be. Like a free bird!

A free bird is the best tag that defines who I am as a whole. Because like a free bird, I believe I have the wings in me since my birth that knows what to do, what not to do in life and how to live the life freely on my terms. If you want to have some real fun, make it count in life, meet me!

Every human being has wings in them like birds. But it’s left up to them whether to make use of it and fly, or cut it off and get trapped in a cage.

So, it's about being free. You only have one life. Do what you love and live your life, like a free bird.

"Find your freedom, live your free life!"
