Day 316 without a Mobile (My Experience of Living Life without a Mobile)

May 21, 2015: I lost my first ever mobile Nokia 2700c during my trip to Goa. The mobile that I used for four years, just in a moment it was one and was no longer with me. It was like a friend of me who has been there every time I needed. I was not sad because I lost my mobile, but I was sad because I lost my companion. Something happened to me after that. I decided not to use a mobile for some days and thought to enjoy the sheer beauty of life. Somehow it started becoming a habit of living life without a mobile.
Today, it marks the day 316 of me living life without a Mobile or Smartphone what we call nowadays. So, I thought why not write a blog on it sharing my somewhat experience staying without a mobile. Here it is I hope you enjoy reading!
Living life without a mobile that too being a BSc IT student in a third year (final year of BSc IT and college life), being a dancer, photographer, artist, and above all being a human, is something that no one can imagine and live. But, I lived! Not for one day, week or month but for almost one year (316 days now and counting). That sounds strange right! But, it is the truth!
Personally, even I can’t believe how I lived my life without a mobile for these many days. You know, I pinched my hand while writing the title of this blog post to remind myself that this is something for real! My friends think I don’t use mobile because it’s my final year of BSc IT. But to let you all know that’s not at all the reason. The reason is something different. I love to keep it to myself! Also, I wanted to experience such a life without a mobile in today's digital world.
One thing I must admit it is life has been so good without a mobile. And thanks to God because my experience was generally excellent. Not saying that one shouldn’t use the mobile or something like that, but my point here is not to become a mobile-savvy who lives life on mobile only. These 316 days without a mobile were nothing but finding my inner-self, happiness, enjoying and living a life that exists outside of mobile. But yes, there were times when I felt like I needed a mobile. I had lots of tough times too, living life without one of the most useful communication tool and technology, mobile. I may be getting technical in this, but never mind I’m an IT person!
I faced many tough times in these many days living life without a mobile, but I somehow managed to deal with it another way around. After all, I’m a BSc IT student that knows very well how to explore other forms of technology if one technology is not in hand. So, that’s what I did when I felt the need for a mobile.
The purpose of writing this article is to not only share my experience regarding me living life without a mobile but also to bring in the fact that nothing is impossible. If I can live without a mobile for these many days, you too can. And this message goes out to all the addicted ones who are so much addicted to their mobile or any other thing, that they forget in the process that there is life/world outside of it. Just give it a try everything is possible!
Through this blog, I would also like to say ‘Sorry’ to all the people who tried so hard and are still trying to contact me for those many days. There’s a reason why I lived my life without a mobile. Hope you all understand!
Finally, I would like to end by saying the good news that, I’m gifting myself a new mobile and will be using it real soon! I’m excited to use a mobile; it has been almost a year now!
